NEW JERSEY AVIATION COUNCIL HOLDS
PHOTO CONTEST FOR YOUNGSTERS

 

OCEAN CITY, N.J. ---The New Jersey Aviation Council is holding a photo-essay contest to promote the importance of community airports.

The contest is open to youngsters 6-18 years of age who live in New Jersey.

Local officials are proud of the City’s busy municipal airport at 26 and Bay Ave. and would like to see many entries from area students and residents.

Contest rules ask the participant to visit their local airport and take photos. Examples given include photos of a fuel truck, an aircraft taxing, aircraft on take off or landing, pilots, flight instructors and students, etc.

Contestants and parents should check in first with airport personnel before taking photos. The contest will run until mid-April. All photos must be mailed to the New Jersey Education Council, c/o of J. Blackburn, 106 River Court, Belmar, N.J. 07719 and received no later than May 1. A short essay of less than 1,000 words should accompany the entry explaining why the airport is important to the community.

The child’s name, address, age and phone number should be included with the material. There is to be only one entry per envelope and no more than six essays per child.

Prizes will be given to First, Second and Third Place winners in three age categories: 6-9, 10-13 and 14-18. Winners will be notified by phone or mail. For a list of winners, please enclose a self addressed, stamped envelope marked Contest Winner List.
